Caroline Vieira, Centro de Dança Alex de Carvalho
Caroline started dancing at the age of 4. In 1998 at 17 years of age she graduated as a professional dancer from a course run by well known and respected directors Mariza Estrella and Ângela Ferreira, the course included: ballet, modern, contemporary, tap, spanish dance, body expression, national and international folklore dance, anatomy, history of dance and music.
Caroline has accrued many first and second prizes in several dance competitions such as:
- Interdanza Assuncion Paraguay - silver and gold medal
- 1st Encounter Mercosul in Dance in Iguassu - highest points in the entire festival.
- VII Dance Project in São Paulo - silver medal in ballet duo and gold medal in contemporary
- VIII International Dance Seminar in Brasília – bronze medal and won 2 scholarships in Europe
- VIII International Dance Seminar in Brasília – bronze medal and won 2 scholarships in Europe
Caroline lived in Vienna, Austria for 6 months studying and performing with the Scholl Opera de.Vienna
Returning to Brazil, Caroline worked for 5 years on a popular television program and had the opportunity to participate in Brazil’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’, where she participated dancing authentic Brazilian dance styles as part of (dança do famosos). It was from that moment that the passion for dança de salão really flourished in Caroline.
Caroline was the partner of the teacher, dancer and choreographer Maurício Butenas and taught at the 2nd International Zouk Congress in São Paulo in 2008 and in January 2009 taught zouk lambada, salsa, bachata and cha cha cha at the 2nd Tango e Milonga, Navio Temático Costa Mediterrãnea.
Nowadays Caroline partners and teaches with one of the most renowned Brazilian zouk lambada dancer, teacher and choreographer Alex de Carvalho.
