What's the difference between Zouk, Lambazouk, Lambada Zouk, or Zouk Lambada?…
Well the short answer is that they are all variations of the same thing – lambada danced to zouk music! Whilst you may see some of the above mentioned variations in style represented in our workshops, we called our congress "Zouk Lambada" because we felt it best described the genre as a whole.
Be warned – In the French Caribbean where zouk music originates, they dance a style of zouk that bears no resemblance to zouk lambada that is danced in Brazil!
What is the Brazil Central Zouk Lambada Congress and Roda de Samba?
Brazil Central Zouk Lambada Congress is an event specializing in Brazilian dance, especially zouk lambada. Over 3 days we host more than 60 workshops, focusing on zouk lambada and other Brazilian dance styles including samba de gafieira, samba no pé, forró, afro-brazilian and capoeira. During the congress there are shows and parties every night.
The Roda de Samba is an auxillary event started in 2012 and specialises in samba no pe. The event runs at the same venue and it is possible to purchase a ticket that packages both events.
How often does Brazil Central host events?

What makes Brazil Central Zouk Lambada Congress the event of the year?
Brazil Central is Australia's ONLY dance congress dedicated to Brazilian dance. On top of this, it will be the first time many of our international artists have been to Australia! What's more, the international instructors teach more than 60% of the workshops, which is exceptional.
Who are some of the featured instructors?
Direct from Brazil our confirmed instructors are Renata Peçanha and her partner Jorge Peres, Carlos da Silva and his partner Fernanda Vitoria. Our national line-up includes Brisbane's own Tarcisio Teatini-Climaco, Kadu Pires and Larissa Thayane from Rio Rhythmics Latin Dance Academy, and Daniel Pinto and Carolyn Frost from Brazilian Soul!
What sort of workshops are available?
We make every effort to offer a beginner, intermediate and advanced workshop in every timeslot. Of course the majority of workshops are for zouk lambada, but you will also find samba de gafieira, forró, soltinho, samba no pé and afro.
I have no training or experience, are there any workshops for me?
A congress is a workshop intensive and as such we expect that participants will have at least done a foundation level course with a specialist Brazilian dance academy to be able to do a beginner level workshop.
Those with ballroom experience or other partner dance experience may be able to convert and do a beginner level workshop. For more information and to check if your experience is suitable, please Contact Us.
What sort of footwear and clothing should I wear for the workshops?
Flat, soft soled shoes such as jazz sneakers are used for dancing zouk lambada, and for women, high heeled dance shoes are required for samba de gafieira, samba no pé, bolero and soltinho.
Cool, comfortable clothing is essential however we would like to uphold certain standards:
- No shorts for men.
- Please consider the comfort of your dance partner and bring a towel, deodorant, breath mints and several changes of shirt.
